Broncos, Briefly: Tuesday, March 14, 2017

Posted Mar 14, 2017

A quick look at the recent buzz on the Denver Broncos.

In Praise of the Unassailable Ware (Robert Mays, The Ringer)
In a brutal sport featuring such diversified roles for such specialized talents, it’s tough for any player to walk away as a unified chorus of observers exclaims that he was among the best to ever play his position. But that was the treatment DeMarcus Ware rightly received on Monday afternoon.

Ware: The definition of a leader and a teammate (Robert Klemko, MMQB)
In two short years with Ware, Ray got a graduate degree in football and life in the NFL from Ware, the four-time All-Pro and nine-time Pro Bowler who retired Monday after 12 seasons with the Cowboys and Broncos. The MMQB spoke with Ray about his mentor and friend.

Losing Ware leaves Broncos with Peyton Manning-like void (Jeff Legwold, ESPN)
Ware, too, had that Hall of Fame air about him before he ever put on a Broncos' helmet.

Broncos defense faces critical pivot point with DeMarcus Ware as latest loss (Lindsay Jones, USA Today)
The Denver Broncos defense won’t undergo a major overhaul in 2017, but with its leader and architect both now gone, it will certainly have a different look.

Farewell, DeMarcus Ware, a Broncos star to appreciate (Paul Klee, Colorado Springs Gazette)
So D-Ware checked both journalism boxes — a superb athlete who also happened to be very interesting — and, yes, I appreciate him for that.

Ware announces retirement (Aric DiLalla)
The four-time first-team All-Pro spent the final three years of his career in Denver, where he totaled 21.5 sacks.

Peyton Manning shares his thoughts on Ware (Caroline Deisley)
"DeMarcus Ware is not only a Hall of Fame player, but a Hall of Fame teammate as well.”

Gary Kubiak congratulates Ware (Aric DiLalla)
“DeMarcus was one of the great players in this league for many years and one of the finest human beings you’ll ever come across.”

Ware’s Denver legacy a smashing success (Phil Milani)
DeMarcus Ware came to Denver looking for a ring, but he found so much more during his three years with the Broncos.
