Schofield Takes Interesting Route to Denver

Posted May 10, 2014

Third-round pick Michael Schofield’s flight ended up being diverted to Colorado Springs before he finally arrived in the Mile High City.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – Michael Schofield got to take the scenic route to Denver on his first trip to the Mile High City as a member of the Broncos.

Originally scheduled to land in the early afternoon, Schofield ended up arriving at the Broncos’ headquarters around 5 p.m. after his flight had to be diverted to Colorado Springs due to strong winds.

“It was a nice flight until we got into this area,” Schofield said. “And then we were about to land, but as we were about to land we were a couple hundred feet away we had to take back off again because they said it was too windy.”

After two aborted landings at Denver International Airport, Schofield’s flight ended up landing in Colorado Springs. There, the lineman waited on the ground for an hour before his flight successfully took off and landed in Denver.

“We circled back around and we were about to try to land again and it just started raining again super hard and they pulled up and said we’re going to Colorado Springs,” Schofield said. “Half the people got off the plane (in Colorado Springs) because nobody wanted to deal with it anymore. Waited an hour and then got back on and flew here. Pretty exciting.”

After a drive from DIA to Dove Valley, Schofield was finally able to meet the press just after the 2014 NFL Draft had concluded.
