“I think I’m in a good position being able to make sure I’m fully healthy,” Harris said. “The Broncos, they’re taking their time with me and Dr. [James] Andrews is doing a great job of watching over me and making sure that I’ll be 100 percent when they release me.”
Harris said he is about 80 to 85 percent healthy right now and that he will see Dr. Andrews at the end of July to assess his progress.
With his partial ACL tear, Harris was able to start running and moving early in the rehabilitation process. He said it was beneficial for him to participate in workouts during minicamp. During OTAs Harris ran full speed, sprinted, backpedalled and turned. Harris, who started every game of the 2013 regular season but tore his ACL during the divisional round of the playoffs, is a key factor in the Broncos’ revitalized defense.
In addition to the daunting task of recovering from his ACL tear, Harris is focusing on his endurance.
“That’s definitely the main thing I’m working on is building that stamina, especially in my knee to be able to last four quarters so that’s something I’m going to continue to work on and get ready for the first game of the year,” he said.
