Futures Football Supporting Denver Public Schools

Broncos cornerback Chris Harris Jr. joined middle school football players for their Futures Football dinner.

DENVER -- On Monday evening, May 12th, over 500 middle school football players from Denver and Aurora Public Schools descended upon Sports Authority Field at Mile High for the annual Denver Broncos Futures Football Team Dinner. Futures Football is a program the Denver Broncos started with Denver Public Schools six years ago—the first ever tackle football program for middle schools in Denver Public Schools. The program’s spring football season is a strong feeder to high school competition and enables the high school coaching staff in Denver to coach 7th and 8th graders, developing strong ties with them before they even spend a moment in high school.

The Broncos worked with Aurora Public Schools this year to develop the same program for their middle schools. The kids were treated to a gourmet style tailgate meal Monday night, were able to see their own season highlight reel and received the hit of the night with a keynote address from Denver Broncos’ cornerback Chris Harris Jr., who delivered a strong message about perseverance, commitment, leadership, effort and the importance of doing well in school.
