Day Three AFC West Roundup

Posted May 10, 2014

A quick look at what Denver's AFC West opponents did during the final day of the 2014 NFL Draft.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- With the 2014 NFL Draft now in the books, here's a look at who the Broncos' AFC West rivals picked up on the final day, with some comments from NFL Network Analyst Mike Mayock and NFL.com's Gil Brandt.

Kansas City Chiefs

Pick: Round 4, Pick 24 (124)
Player: De'Anthony Thomas
Position: RB
College: Oregon
Mayock’s take: "This just makes a ton of sense for the Chiefs. When you watched what Dexter McCluster did for that team, you knew they'd have to find somebody to replace him. The Chiefs will have to manufacture touches for Thomas."

Pick: Round 5, Pick 23 (163)
Player: Aaron Murray
Position: QB
College: Georgia
Mayock’s take: "Andy Reid values these guys. Now you bring in a guy who will compete to be the No. 3 guy against Tyler Bray in Year 1. I think it's pretty simple: They paid Chase Daniel big money last year. You're lucky to get through a season with your No. 1 guy. They have Bray, who has a ton of arm talent. Now, they bring in a kid as clean as can be. The Chiefs have their young, developmental guy."

Pick: Round 6, Pick 17 (193)
Player: Zach Fulton
Position: OG
College: Tennessee

Pick: Round 6, Pick 24 (200)
Player: Laurent Duvernay-Tardif
Position: OT
College: McGill (Canada)
Brandt's take: "(At McGill's pro day) Duvernay-Tardif measured 6-foot-5, 298 pounds, which was 23 pounds less than his weight at the East-West Shrine Game. He's a medical student, and he said he thought he lost the weight because he was so busy studying for his classes. At his pro day, Duvernay-Tardif ran the 40 in 4.94 and 5.08 seconds. He had a 31 1/2-inch vertical and a 9-6 broad jump. He ran the three-cone drill in 7.30 seconds and had 33 bench-press reps. Duvernay-Tardif was not at the combine, but those numbers were as good as any offensive linemen there, including Taylor Lewan."

Oakland Raiders
Pick: Round 4, Pick 7 (107)
Player: Justin Ellis
Position: DT
College: Louisiana Tech
Mayock’s take: "'Jelly' can roll, baby. He has some short-area quickness; got some foot quickness. I feel like the Raiders have gone 4-for-4 with their draft selections so far."

Pick: Round 4, Pick 16 (116)
Player: Keith McGill
Position: CB
College: Utah
Mayock’s take: "That is a Raider pick right there. Think Brandon Browner of the Seahawks. He's a big kid, but with significant off-field issues."

Pick: Round 7, Pick 4 (219)
Player: Travis Carrie
Position: CB
College: Ohio

Pick: Round 7, Pick 20 (235)
Player: Shelby Harris
Position: DE
College: Illinois St.

Pick: Round 7, Pick 32 (247)
Player: Jonathan Dowling
Position: SS
College: Western Kentucky

San Diego Chargers
Pick: Round 5, Pick 25 (165)
Player: Ryan Carrethers
Position: NT
College: Arkansas State

Pick: Round 6, Pick 25 (201)
Player: Marion Grice
Position: RB
College: Arizona State

Pick: Round 7, Pick 25 (240)
Player: Tevin Reese
Position: WR
College: Baylor
